My main research interest focuses on how to better-equipped private governance to face the crisis of emerging market value chains that are not well integrated into existing certification programs. While the producing countries are trying to comply with the Western market’s expectations of sustainable production practice, the rise of the emerging countries’ market share for palm oil may discourage the sustainability movement and initiatives by not participating. Thus, I would like to figure out if the formation of functional meta-partnerships can resolve the problem of the integration of the private standards in emerging countries or only up to the scope of support and encouraging producers to be certified. To what extent functional meta-partnership in succeeding to drive system-wide change and tackle the unceasing issue of the sustainability production practice?
